Introduction

This Privacy Policy outlines Cambridge Accounting Ltd’s practices regarding information collected from users who access our website at www.cambridgeaccountants.co.nz or otherwise share personal information with us. 

Grounds for data collection

Processing your personal information (meaning any information that may potentially allow your identification with reasonable means; hereinafter “Personal Information”) is necessary for the performance of our contractual obligations towards you, for providing you with our services, to protect our legitimate interests, and for compliance with legal and financial regulatory obligations to which we are subject.

When you use the Site, you consent to the collection, storage, use, disclosure and other uses of your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy.

What information do we collect?

We collect two types of data and information from Users.

We are not aware of the identity of the User from which the Non-personal Information was collected. What information do we collect?

We do not rent, sell, or share Users’ information with third parties except as described in this Privacy Policy.

User Rights

Users may exercise certain rights regarding the data processed by the Owner.

In particular, Users have the right to do the following:

Withdraw their consent at any time. Users have the right to withdraw consent where they have previously given their consent to processing their Personal Data.

Object to processing of their Data. Users have the right to object to the processing of their Data if the processing is carried out on a legal basis other than consent. Further details are provided in the dedicated section below.

Users have the right to access their data. They can learn if Data is being processed by the Owner, obtain disclosure regarding certain aspects of the processing, and obtain a copy of the Data undergoing processing.

Verify and seek rectification. Users have the right to verify the accuracy of their Data and ask for it to be updated or corrected.

Users have the right to restrict the processing of their Data under certain circumstances. In this case, the Owner will not process their Data for any purpose other than storing it.

Users can request to have their Personal Data deleted or otherwise removed. Under certain circumstances, users have the right to obtain the erasure of their Data from the Owner.

Receive their Data and have it transferred to another controller. Users have the right to receive their Data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and, if technically feasible, to have it transmitted to another controller without any hindrance. This provision is applicable provided that the Data is processed by automated means and that the processing is based on the User’s consent, on a contract which the User is part of, or on pre-contractual obligations thereof.

Lodge a complaint.

Users can bring a claim before their competent data protection authority.

Where Personal Data is processed in the public interest, in the exercise of an official authority vested in the Owner, or for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Owner, Users may object to such processing by providing a ground related to their particular situation to justify the objection.

Users must know that, however, should their Data be processed for direct marketing purposes, they can object to that processing without providing any justification. To learn whether the Owner is processing Personal Data for direct marketing purposes, Users may refer to the relevant sections of this document.

Any requests to exercise User rights can be directed to the Owner through the contact details provided in this document. These requests can be exercised free of charge, and the Owner will address them as early as possible, always within one month.

Retention

We will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies. Retention periods will be determined, considering the type of information collected and the purpose for which it is collected, bearing in mind the requirements applicable to the situation and the need to destroy outdated, unused information at the earliest reasonable time. Under applicable regulations, we will keep records containing client personal data, account opening documents, communications and anything else as required by relevant laws and regulations.

We may rectify, replenish or remove incomplete or inaccurate information at any time and our discretion.

Cookies

We and our trusted partners use cookies and other technologies in our related services, including when you visit our Site or access our services.

A “cookie” is a small piece of information that a website assigns to your device while you are viewing a website. Cookies are beneficial and can be used for various purposes. We also use a “Google Analytics” tool to collect information about your site use. Google Analytics collects information such as how often users access the Site, what pages they visit when they do so, etc. We only use the information we get from Google Analytics to improve our Site and services. Google Analytics collects the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit sites rather than your name or other identifying information. We do not combine the information collected through Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this Site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.

Third-party collection of information

Our policy only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. To the extent you disclose your information to other parties or sites throughout the internet, different rules may apply to their use or disclosure of the information you disclose. Accordingly, we encourage you to read each third party’s terms and conditions and privacy policy to which you choose to disclose information.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies we do not own or control or to individuals whom we do not employ or manage, including any of the third parties to which we may disclose information as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

How do we safeguard your information?

We take great care in implementing and maintaining the Site’s security and your information.  We employ industry standard procedures and policies to ensure the safety of the information we collect and retain and prevent unauthorised use of any such information. We require any third party to comply with similar security requirements in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Although we take reasonable steps to safeguard information, we cannot be responsible for the acts of those who gain unauthorised access or abuse our Site, and we make no warranty, express, implied or otherwise, that we will prevent such access.

Transfer of data

Marketing

We may use your Personal Information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, etc., ourselves or through our third-party subcontractors to provide you with promotional materials concerning our services that we believe may interest you. 

Out of respect for your right to privacy, we provide you with a means to decline further marketing offers from us within such marketing materials. If you unsubscribe, we will remove your email address or telephone number from our marketing distribution lists.

Please note that even if you have unsubscribed from receiving marketing emails from us, we may send you other types of important e-mail communications without allowing you to opt out of receiving them. These may include customer service announcements or administrative notices.

Updates or amendments to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to amend or revise the Privacy Policy periodically; material changes will be effective immediately upon displaying the revised Privacy Policy. The last revision will be reflected in the “Last modified” section. Your continued use of the Platform, following the notification of such amendments on our website, constitutes your acknowledgement and consent of such amendments to the Privacy Policy and your agreement to be bound by the terms of such amendments.
